A Healthy Frozen Burrito?

Can I be frank?

I’m sure you know as well as I do cooking healthy meals like grilled chicken over quinoa and grilled veggies is the best thing for yourself and family but let’s get real…

Some days we’re lucky if we don’t walk out of the house with our clothes turned inside out.

We go from getting everyone up and ready for the day, to running errands, work, after school activities, more work, then it’s home for cleaning, laundry, homework, and OH yea! Dinner.

By the end of the day the last thing you want to do is cook while In n’ Out burger is right down the street.

I keep picturing the mom from the movie Tully, played by Charlize Theron, popping in a frozen pizza for the umteenth time that week because she was just exhausted.

Well, here is the good news!

I recently went to a healthy food expo in Anaheim and learned about a lot of new healthy frozen food options that are as easy as popping in the microwave!

I’m not saying we should live on frozen food ladies, but some days, it’s needed for our own sanities.

While some tasted way too healthy (you know the cardboard taste) Others tasted not only good but actually fill you up!

I wanted to highlight a few of the best options I found that can be found at your local grocery store. All of these options have vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Option 1:

These guys have pre-packed salads and things to heat up as well. The salads are perfect for a grab and go meal when you’re driving around all day and need a healthy option. The pasta’s tasted really good, my son Adrix even liked the taste!

Option 2:

Luvo offers healthy meals, bowls, and burritos you can throw in the microwave and not have to think. They have unique options as well for a variety of flavors so you never get bored.

Full Disclosure: beware when buying the cauliflower mac n cheese. I was not a fan. The other one’s I tried were pretty good. 🙂

Option 3:

This company is coming out with some new burrito flavors coming in May which I had the pleasure to pre-test and let me tell you…they were delish. They have breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and some bowls that are a great addition to your freezer for a grab and go type of day.

You can find them at most grocery stores and Targets. 🙂

The brand that made me go “eh.”

I did try a few of the Open Nature products and thought they were ok, for example the frozen pizza tasted a little too “healthy” if you know what I mean.

So there you have a few of the brands I will be adding to my freezer. I hope this list gives you some ease when choosing quick healthy options for dinner or lunch when you are stressed, exhausted, or just in a pinch for time.

Ps no one of these brands sponsored me, I generally just thought they were a good, healthy option to help you eat healthy when your self discipline muscle is no longer working.
